“The most valuable parts of the 7-Figure Sales course for me were the webinar and VSL outlines. I basically did a cut and paste into a google doc and then went through replacing Mike’s example text with my own as it related to my product. Having the example “Black Book” examples was also amazing!
The next valuable part for me was following along as Mike actually did the process of creating slides and then recording and editing the video until it was perfect. This left me no doubt that there is no magic involved. Mike doesn’t have super powers, I saw I could do what he had done and so I got to work.
Third was Mike running though how long it takes him to create a webinar from start to finish. There was no, ‘this will be easy and done in 20 minutes’ promises, he spelled out how many days it takes him still at his level of experience and how long it took for his first letters.

“Overall, the course was SUPERB, and I learned a ton. I feel confident that the sales presentation I created using the knowledge gained from 7FSP will be effective.
As an added bonus, the way that the course made me think about the marketing for my product actually made me reevaluate the product itself, and take steps to change it for the better. That was an unexpected and fantastic bonus.
I’m not a Mac guy, I use a PC. So, I had to learn PowerPoint and Camtasia to create my webinar. I would recommend adding a brief overview of what buttons to press using those software programs.
When I recorded my webinar, I wanted to read the script at a fast pace as Mike recommended. When I listened to it, I noticed that my breathing was in the wrong places in sentences throughout the script and it didn’t really sound good. So, I started editing the breaths out and then just decided to do that to the whole thing. I think it sounds more professional that way, but it doesn’t really have a ‘live webinar’ feel to it.
I guess I need to learn how to speak better for my next sales presentation. Maybe a class recommendation from Mike on this subject?
Unfortunately, I found Camtasia to be very buggy. When I started cutting out all those breaths, the software ran slower and slower. I think it stored every cut in my computer’s memory, slowing it down to a crawl. So, I decided to produce it in chunks – but when I did that, sometimes the audio levels on the .mov file would not be at the right level! I contacted Tech Smith (Camtasia’s developer) and this volume leveling is a known issue.
Other bugs with Camtasia include no sound if you don’t encode the sound when you produce a .mov file, and sometimes the video display shows black if you are scrubbing backwards, but if you scrub forward the picture is there. It’s quite frustrating.
Anyway, that was a pain in the you-know-what to get done.
Moving on, when I was ready to put my course online, I had no idea how to do that and how to make a website that is secured for members only. This is something that Mike might want to touch on in the course. Obviously, he can’t go into a lot of detail because that is not what the course is about, but it took me a while to figure it out, so I think it would be helpful to students in the future that want to create a secure site, which should be a large percentage of them.
The solutions I found are:
* To create a website: WordPress (don’t need to learn code)
* To create a “store” website that integrates with an email manager, has pre-made ‘add to cart buttons’ and web page templates, and that has a free plugin that can be used to secure the site for members only, I used the WordPress theme called OptimizePress. It’s only about $100 and doesn’t charge a monthly fee.
* When choosing an email managing service, I learned that the most important thing is making sure that the emails you send don’t end up in the recipient’s junk folder. The first company I tried (GetResponse) did just that, but the second one I tried, Aweber, worked good; the test emails I sent wound up in my inbox.
* For credit card payment processors, I found that Stripe was the easiest to set up. There is another one called ClickBank that seems to have a small army of users that will promote your product for a hefty sales commission. I need to learn more about it and maybe I’ll switch.
Anyway, I think that spending 5 minutes on those topics would be a good jumping-off point for the students he has in the future, to save them a bunch of wasted time and confusion.
