About this Episode

During my lifetime, it’s been incredibly rare to witness the birth of an entirely new industry, but in the past few years, it seems like that’s now taking place all the time…

Companies with billion dollar valuations are popping up everywhere…

We’ve seen it in crypto, we’ve seen it in VR, we’ve seen it in Cannabis, and now we’re seeing it in transportation.

And there’s one part of the transportation story that I find fascinating, which is the rise of the Scooter War that started two years ago.

Who knew that a childhood toy would become a multi-billion dollar industry within months, and transform the urban commute.

Well today we’re going to get the inside scoop on the battle for billions between Uber, Lyft, Bird, Lime, and the company that kicked off the revolution… Spin.

Euwyn Poon founded Spin in 2016, and it was recently acquired by Ford Motor Company in 2018.

If you’re in a city where these scooters preside, it’s a fascinating love, hate relationship. On one hand, they can be incredibly convenient if you find yourself in a bustling city center filled with traffic. And on the other hand, they can be an unsightly nuisance as people take to the streets and sidewalks at 20 mph on a device they can barely control.

But one thing is for sure… It’s an urban transportation revolution with billions of dollars at stake, and today Euwyn will take us behind the scenes and onto the front-lines of the scooter wars in a level of detail you’ve never heard before.
